From my home in Newcastle NSW my wife and I went 60km north west of Gunnedah to a village called Baan Baa, we stayed at the Railway Hotel which is a typical country pub. We stayed in the double donga (perpose built demountable workers accomodation) for $85, the facilities were clean but basic & the bed was comfortable. The beer was cold & only $5 /schooner (425ml - 15 fl oz), the lamb cutlet dinner was amongst the best pub food we have had. The locals were friendly and the football was on tv. Overall I would rate the stay experience as excellent and recommend the Railway Hotel as an overnight stop. The ride was typical for the New England Highway, but once we were over the Dividing Range and turned off onto the Kamilaroi Highway onto the plains it was better, fewer cars and good road surface with speed limits up to 110km/hr. The country is dry and in need of good rain, but there was still wildlife to avoid. Overall the ride was very good. The purpose of the ride was my wife's first long outing since our kids (18 years) and it is great to be "us" again. Regards Bruce

You should plan your next trip for Lakes Entrance on 13 /10/2017 where the next flocking of aussie riders is to be held.
